What is AUBURN EM?

I know what your thinking "what happened to 14 and over that blog was the bomb diggity?!?!" well don't fret! I have vamped up both the blog and the name to a slightly less annoying title. Drum roll please...... AUBURN EM! Ah yes, it's a new beginning guys and I do hope you'll love it! Here's why I did some winter cleaning.

SO first of all I've never been too sure on the name, I mean it was a big of a mouthful and wasn't really catchy, I recently made a steam account and Auburn Em is the name I chose. It got me thinking, I really like the name and my blog was a bit mediocre so why not change things up! I haven't posted for how many months and the reason is that I was finding blogging more of a chore than something I enjoy which kinda sucked. It made me want to quit blogging and forget that it ever happened however tonight I found myself wanting to write something people will read and that what blogging is for so here I am.

The background around the name is; I have been called ginger SO many times and sometimes I am like in a certain light I look like Ron Weasley's sister (that would be pretty awesome and I don't mean jenny). However people used to use the word ginger to hurt me like it was some big insult, well no. It ain't okay? It's a hair colour so get over it. I would describe my hair colour as Auburn, but yeah. WOW EmiLy THat wAs suCH An inTerEsTing sTory.

I also changed the layout as I'm sick of seeing all these blogs looking the exact same and posting the same content, like the people I've talked to in the 'blogosphere' are all SO nice and individual but I feel like there's an expectation when it comes to a beauty or lifestyle blog. I mean if you love that expectation then you go ahead and rock it but why not branch out once in while even if it means that your theme is a little random. Also post what ever you want, even if it's a rant at how crappy it is when your nail varnish chips. *she says from personal experience*

I'm gonna change up the posts a bit as well, they'll still be beauty, lifestyle and books posts but I'm not going to plan as much and I'm also going to ask you guys what you want me to write about.

Anyway that's it for the update post, I hope you all have an amazing Christmas, Guys only 6 days left!!! I may also be starting a youtube channel but I have to get over the sound of my voice first.

My Top Five Favourite Reads

Hello people! First of all sorry if the quality of the picture is rubbish but by the time I get home from school it's quite dark so it's so annoying to take photos. I have also decided to make a schedule for my blog, Mondays are for beauty posts, Wednesdays lifestyle, Fridays are Books and Sundays whatever I feel like. I hope that this sits well with you guys, if not well tough luck 'cos that is how it's going to be for now. So yeah today is friyay, and we gonna talk books.

When picking the books for this post I didn't want to choose the same kind of book all the time, most of them are young adult reads but there not the same kind of genres, there is something for everyone.I am also not going to go into massive depth with the books as a couple of them I've wrote full length reviews on and if you want to read them I will link them!

First up is the prequel to Divergent, Four by Veronica Roth which is written in the perspective of character Tobias/Four (main male role). Most of the book is the time before Tobias met Tris which I love because you get a better understanding of Tobias as a person before Tris which you don't get in the trilogy. It's an action with a sprinkle of romance at the end, which you cannot go wrong with in my opinion.

Abundance of Katherine's, one of John Greens masterpieces, is such a feel good book and it is one of my favourite books from Mr Green. I loved how it was one of those books you don't have to concentrate really hard on and you can just relax and enjoy it. I did a full review on John Green and his books here. This books shows two young boys go on a road trip of a lifetime and they discover there is other girls in this universe that aren't named Katherine.

Next up is the only Non-fiction book I own, I know It's bad. The further adventures of an idiot abroad is one of the funniest books I have ever read, I love Karl Pilkington therefore I wasn't surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It's basically like a diary he keeps while filming the show, so it's a bit extra information and like behind the scenes basically.

I'll give you the sun by Judy Nelson may possibly be my favourite book, which is a big deal because I love every book I've ever read in its own individual way. However this book just did something to me, I literally sat there for 10 minutes silent after I'd read it trying to take it in. I wrote a full review of this magnificent book here. It's a beautiful romance and friendship book about two twins who go through so much things and surprisingly come out the other end happy. I so recommend you read this!

Last but not least is All the bright places by Jennifer Niven This book will take you on such an emotional journey, My mum read it from cover to cover and loved it. I reviewed it here. This post is my most viewed so there might be chance you will enjoy it! The book involves mental health issues which I think is a good thing because it doesn't romanticise it and shows just how gritty and devastating it can be.

Thank you for reading guys, I really hoped you enjoyed it and I'd love to hear what your favourite books are in the comments.

My Love and Hates of Autumn.

Hello! Okay I have a number of things I'd like to say before starting the post, first of all I'm truly sorry for being so crappy with the posts. Secondly I got some pumpkins and now I'm freaking about Halloween, I mean It's so close! Thirdly I want to get more professional with my blog as I can tell with the page views that you guys aren't loving the inconsistency however I have had exams this week so all is forgiven I hope. ALSO I am considering starting a YouTube channel so thoughts on that please. Right lets get started!

So I have seen countless posts of Fall/Autumn favourites and things like that but what I am yet to come across is the bad parts of this time of years. I hear you screaming THERE ISN'T ANYTHING WRONG EMILY! Okay, Okay I'm aware how freaking awesome Autumn is BUT I have three things that suck about it and because I'm not totally miserable three things I love about it too!

-First thing is Dark mornings, I know some people like them but to me it feels like I should still be asleep if It's dark but no, I have to drag myself out of bed to go to school *cough* Prison *cough*.
-Okay how has no one mentioned spiders? They decide because it's cold to come and invade your house, plus this year there not little any more no no their massive genetically engineered spiders. I'm serious, I am yet to see a non man eating spider in my house this season. Not happy, not at all.
-When it's Autumn that means Christmas is nearly here which is flipping awesome but that means you have to start saving up for presents if your like me and don't get a weekly income. What makes it even harder is seeing all the awesome Christmas and Halloween things out, for example in Lush that Santa lip scrub though...GOD DAMMIT!

-Autumn style make up is my favourite thing ever because it suits me unlike make up for the rest of the year, when I think about it what is Summer make up? Like what colours do I use? I'm cosmetic confused. Anyway, YES! The berry lips, the smoky eyes and lets not forget the copper eye lids. I freakin' love make up...
-The clothes as well for this season are the best ever! I don't think It's possible to hide my chunky legs however due to the fact that if I layer too much I look like a mustard and black marshmallow.  Also my winter uniform at school sucks so hard. But yes jumper, jeans and wedges are definitely a staple for me.
-TELEVISION PEOPLE! So The Walking Dead started on Monday and I'm Hella excited to watch that also The Vampire Diaries starts soon, so that also is getting me seriously hyped up. Just TV in general, also I cannot wait for the Christmas adverts to come on.. Coca cola advert for the win lads. (HOLIDAYS ARE COMING! HOLIDAYS ARE COMING!)

Sorry if that was a really long post but I just got excited knowing It's nearly Halloween and Christmas. On that note I may be making a Halloween Pumpkin carving post, so let me know if you think that's a good idea. Thank you for reading guys!

Book Review: If you find me

I've decided that every Friday there will be a book review posted, this decision is part of my 'get organised' regime. So I hope that's okay with you guys, anyway this is a book I bought a while back and it was kind of a impulse buy. I hadn't heard anything about this book or even seen it before but the blurb sounded pretty awesome. I'm going to dive in now...

This beautiful looking book has an even better story inside, It's kinda like Frozen but darker with drugs involved and no ice magic. So really nothing like Frozen except the overall message is that you don't need men to keep you alive, you need your big sister. This book tells the story of Carey and Jenessa, whose mum is a meth addict and often leaves the sisters for weeks on end in a broken camper in the middle of the woods. Carey is left to survive on cans of beans which her younger sister despises after the first 20 tins, however they don't have a choice when that's the only source of food. It's either that or Carey's hunting which is never too successful. When their mum is gone longer than usual, the girls begin to worry as their bean supply is down and there not allowed into civilisation since their mum stole them away from Carey's dad years ago. However one day that very dad shows up with child services, the girls are brought back into the real world and have to go to school for the first time all while trying to get around the fact their mother left them once and for all. Through the books you learn more about how life was for the girls in the woods and how they had to survive, the girls go through some traumatic things, some so traumatic that they've kept Jenessa mute ever since. I absolutely loved this book so much, the story is so different and inspiring. You will laugh, cry and cry again because it gets really emotional sometimes. I can also promise that by the end of the book you will hate 'Momma'.

PLEASE go buy this book! You'll love so much, the characters are so diverse and different, this book takes you on a journey that you'll never want to end.

Lets bring back LETTERS!

This post is going to be a little different, I'm collaborating with The Paperdashery and I'm going to talk to you guys about Letters, I know right so interesting. No but seriously this is interesting, technology has literally taken over our lives and that's not all bad. We can do things quicker, easier and it's efficient but it's not sentimental any more. You're not going to show your kids that text your best friend sent you 20 years ago because in reality it won't be there, it's virtual. This is where letters come in, they're so meaningful I mean knowing somebody has taken the time to hand write their thoughts to you and send or hand deliver it to you is so precious. I have a large envelope filled with letters or cards from family and friends, It instantly cheers me up when I'm down if I read all of them. Text messages can be great too but there's just something about a letter that is so personal.

The Paperdashery have started a project called #MamaMail. It's the idea that experienced mothers make up care packages for new mums, these boxes can be filled with all sorts from chocolate to face masks. Just anything that adds a drop of happiness into the stress filled life of being a mum. ME being 15 I have no clue about babies or being a mum but I do know how hard my mum works and that's after she's being doing the whole mum thing for 19 years. I can only imagine how crazy it is for new mums that don't have a clue sometimes because it's scary, I mean it's hard enough to look after yourself never mind a small version of yourself who you can't communicate with. So if you think you'd be interested in this please contact @ThePaperdashery on Instagram and they'll fill you in.

If you're creative and like being all lovey dovey, send a letter, make it special. Make it pretty for gods sake, slap some Washi tape on it (The Paperdashery sell some lovely washi tape by the way) write in the colours of the rainbow, just enjoy it. If you're thinking It takes too long and there's a reason they call it Snail Mail, then find patience sometimes in life everyone's always in rush mode. You need to just slow down and gather yourself from time to time or before you know it your forgetting to live in the moment (so deep, Much tumblr). SO guys the moral of the post is, take your time and enjoy the little things.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, just to let you know this post wasn't sponsored at all, I'm just passionate about being old fashioned and creative.

My Everyday Base Products.

Hey guys!
I bought some face products a while back but didn't want to review them until I'd properly used them. Now that I've got a proper opinion on them I can give you guys my honest thoughts. Lets get started! Also sorry for the photo as its really light, the sun was Hella strong that day. I feel like I don't write a long enough intro any more but I don't want to blab on too much.

First I thought I'd start with my foundation which is the Bourjois Healthy mix which smells AMAZING like it actually smells of melons and fresh fruit. This is a really lightweight foundation which is great but for me I don't find the coverage all that smashing however that's not always a bad thing as it gives my skin chance to breathe. Its a liquid foundation and mine is in the shade Light Vanilla, I suck when it comes to picking a shade that actually looks right on me but this does thankfully match. I apply this with a damp Real Techniques brush. This cost me £10.99.

I have two of the Rimmel London Wake me up concealers because when I was 13 I bought one along with the Wake me up foundation and when looking back at the products they're orange as hell. How did I manage? Anyway i got another one from Morrison's the other week and its much lighter probably still not light enough but it'll do, It's the shade Ivory. I use it under the eyes and as a highlight on the bridge of my nose, forehead, chin and cupids bow. The only thing I don't love about it is that there's little bits of shimmer in it and im like what? why? Then I think why the hell not sparkle everyday. It has brilliant coverage and is amazing to blend, mine was £5.49.

Bourjois healthy balance powder has the same beautiful smell as the foundation which is awesome, its not very pigmented which I guess is good. However I find it takes a lot of it set my foundation which isn't the best as it builds up on my skin and is visible. I think I need a lighter less dense powder without any colour, I just need something more!! One day maybe I'll find the perfect setting powder. This one is in the shade Vanilla and it was £8.99.

I don't know if you'd count it as a base product but I hadn't written a review on this beauty yet and wanted to share with you. Holy moly I love this stuff, it's so natural blendable. After applying my light coloured foundation and powder Benefit's Hoola Bronzer adds that pop of colour back into your face as well as giving you sharp, effective contours. I'm a cont-whore. What can I say? Seriously though I it's high end and is rather expensive, £23.50 to be precise, but its worth every penny.

So guys those are my everyday bass products, let me know your favourite and if you have any alternatives to the ones I've listed above. Bye!

My top 5 favourite Chick Flicks!

Since its starting to get colder and therefore the nights are shorter and no one really wants to leave the confines of their nice comfy couch I thought I would share with you my favourite Chick Flicks. Lets be honest who doesn't love a good Chick Flick, the handsome guy who is unrealistically understanding and the woman who gets such miracle guy. Oh the jealousy.

I thought i'd start off with my favourite film ever, 10 things i hate about you. This film is actually my everything I mean Heath Ledger is absolutely perfect in this film so is co star Julia Stiles, Kat is my inspiration. It's filled with laughs, cry's and aww's, mostly aww's for me as the main characters are the cutest and I absolutely love them, you'll be able to relate so much to the strange teachers or the arsehole guys. If I talk to much I'll fill this whole blog post so just go out and buy it or watch online, but I honestly can't recommend it enough its a cinematic master piece.

27 Dresses a classic in the Smith household (I'm smith) me and my mum love to sit watching chick flicks when were feeling crappy. This one always creeps itself onto the gigantic piles of love story classics, it's funny and makes you cry. This films tells you about a girl who is always the maid of honour but never the bride, she is lusting over her boss until he falls in love with her sister. I'm grateful I only have an older brother. Then in the down spiral of planning her sister and the man she is love with's wedding she meets the right guy. That's I'm not saying anything else or I'll ruin it even more, its just a warm feel good movie that will make you smile from start to finish.

Another oldie-ish is Clueless which is everything a 90's movie could be, Strange yet amazing fashion and old but funny jokes. The main character is a rich popular girl with no clue when it comes to love. does anyone really though? This movie is so well directed and written that even thought the characters should be annoying there not at all, they make you laugh because you see yourself a little bit in each one. It's such an easy watch and doesn't take brain power to enjoy with a nice relaxing drink, it also would be great to watch with the girls.

Next is the Amazing How to lose a guy in 10 days now i must admit at parts it will make you cringe so much you'll want to hide behind the nearest pillow. HOWEVER it will also make you laugh your head off and swoon over the man that is the young Matthew McConaughey, Damn. When writing an article about trying to lose a guy the female lead end ups falling in love even though she throws all sorts at him, She then later finds out that he had a bet to stay with her for at least 10 days.. Oh the Drama!

Last but not least is The lucky one because I couldn't write a Chick Flick list without having the god that is Zac Efron included. So this heartbreaking movie will have you crying no doubt, but also going green with jealousy because we don't have our very own Logan (Zac's character) yes he's that good. When Logan is saved in the army by walking to a picture he found on the floor, he investigates the woman on such picture. Finally he finds her and is tasked with her hectic life, young son and mad ex husband. Oh! and there's dogs, so that's good too!

So there are my 5 favourite Chick Flicks for you to snuggle up and watch on those chilly Autumn nights. Let me know your favourites and what you think of my 5! See you later guys..

Book Review: I'll give you the sun

I haven't done a Book Review in forever, but i just had to do one for this beautiful book! Once in a while a book comes along that changes your outlook on life or gets you seriously thinking, Jandy Nelson's I'll give you the sun was that very book.

I'ts set in two peoples perspective, Noah and Jude. Twins that are both eccentric in their own creative ways, Noah the artist that paints in his mind then there's Jude that creates beautiful dresses and follows every superstition under the sun (pun, sorry). These two characters are inseparable until tragedy strikes their family and everything crumbles apart, Jandy does a fantastic job in describing how these siblings deal with death and love. Both go on immense emotional and physical journeys that don't seem linked in anyway but everything joins up at the end giving you a brilliant last couple of chapters. Jude falls in love with a boy that seems too good to be true all this is not before she goes through some of the worst experiences life can throw at anyone. Noah also falls in love with a boy who is nothing but perfect in his eyes, while dealing with the pressure of getting into art school Noah also has to juggle the aspect of his sexuality. Jude's point of view is set in the future after the tragedy has taken place, Noah's is before. This book will make you grateful for the people around you and will show you that even the biggest arguments aren't worth it if you love the person. Love is a very powerful thing, it can change people make them blind even. This book tackles all the mysteries of life, you will go on a journey with the twins and I think that's the experience the author was wanting. As soon as i'd finished this book I sat for about 10 minutes just thinking about how lucky I am and how much I was in love with this book, I mean it made me cry, laugh and cry a bit more.

I don't want to spoil it too much for you guys but you should really experience this book for yourselves, Seriously go get it. Mine was £7.99 from WH Smiths

 (it really is THAT good)

Soap and Glory Products

Hi guys!
I absolutely love Soap and Glory products, I mean who doesn't right? Their packaging is to die for and the quality of the products is brilliant, all this without the high end price tag (No this isn't a sponsored post I just really love them.) This post is a long time coming as I've actually had these products a while but just never got round to writing the review but here we are, lets get started!

My Life saver of a product is the Archery brow tint and precision shaping pencil, mine is in the shade Brownie Points which I think might be the darkest. It has two ends one is a felt tip like thing, its kinda like a brush too as well it's hard to explain and the other end is a twist up pencil. I use both sides; The pencil to fill and the felt tip to add sharpness/detail. Mine has washi tape on it because I stood on the pencil ends cap when it had rolled away in a school corridor and I was running after it, Tragic I know. I bought mine from Boots for £10.00

I haven't edited this photo so you can properly see the shades yourself, Ahh so pretty... The Lid Stuff  What's Nude quad is a essential to any beauty fanatic, you've got every shade you need for a basic everyday eye look. I use the white shade called Vanilla for my brow bone as its a lovely natural highlight shade, I then use Pink T as a transitional colour as its subtle but still covers up most of my veiny eyelids. The shade Mudhoney is a beautiful coffee warm brown, its my favourite out of the four, I use that on the outer V and crease. Then there's the only shimmer shade in quad, Aubersheen (I see what you did there Soap and Glory) this is a really pretty dark brown but isn't harsh due to the shimmery tone. All the eyeshadow's have a powdery creamy texture with good pigment and blend brilliantly, I bought mine from boots for £10.00.

Love at first blush in Pink,Pop & Pearl. Look how pretty this is, I must admit however I've started to not use it for blush but for highlighter because of the lovely shimmery glow it gives you. It has Pink, Brown and white segments so you have really 3 in 1 there's blush, bronzer and highlight all in one. Its really pigmented so you don't need much which is why It's so amazing for the price of £11.00 and of course I got it from boots, I do shop other places but apparently not for Soap and Glory products. Also apologies for the dirty mirror, bad Emily.

In conclusion, Soap and Glory products are awesome and you should go out and buy some like now, I'm pretty sure I say that a lot on my review but oh well. Let me know in the Comments what are your favourite products from Soap and Glory!

My Everyday Skincare Routine

I thought i'd finally write this post because recently my skin has been actually pretty good, I have really patchy skin normally so things are definitely looking up. My cheeks are normally red with spots and my T-zone is strangely oily and dry at the same time, its all very weird and irritating. Then one day I won a Witch gel face wash on Instagram and my skin hasn't been this good in forever! The face mask I don't use everyday but I just wanted to update you guys on it a little (I did write a post about it properly here.)

The first thing I do is get my mascara off, I love taking mascara off its like ripping down the boundaries of being able to rub your eyes. To take it off I use the Simple Kind to eyes Eye makeup remover  which I find is so gentle on the sensitive skin around my eyes, I also love that it doesn't sting if I do by accident get some product in my eyes. This is a cheap drugstore product but does not lack on quality at all, I bought my bottle from Superdrug for £1.65 so its pretty good going. I use just normal cotton pads with this on and it normally takes two pads to take it all off.

After cleaning my eyes, I use the Garnier Micellar cleansing water, this is a new buy and I'm not sure if it makes a big deal to my skin but it does leave my face feeling fresh and clean. It takes make up off like a treat, not so much eye make up though so that why I use the Simple product. I bought it for £1.99, that was the 125ml bottle as I wanted to test it first before I buy the big bottle.

With all my make up off I tie my hair up and head into the bathroom with my New Witch Pore minimising gel wash which at the moment is my holy grail product. This face wash is like no other my friend, I wet my face then apply the wash in circular motions all of over my face concentrating on my most problematic areas. As soon as I rinse it off, my skin is so soft and smooth with my blemishes and pores looking minimal. Ah its so perfect, as I say I won mine but you can buy yours from any drugstore with The Witch line in it. I will definitely be purchasing this again and would love for more Witch products so I can use them and tell you guys how they are.

To finish it off I moisturise with the Simple Clear skin Oil balancing moisturiser, which stops my face from drying up. This product is brilliant, its really light so it doesn't add any extra oil to my face but still give my dry patches that extra boost. I apply it to all my face and again add more to my dryer patches like around my nose and between my brows. When I've got into bed and I'm watching Netflix normally, I also condition my eyebrows and eyelashes with coconut oil, this helps keep them healthy after stripping their moisture with the make up remover.

When i remember to I use Bio oil on my stretch marks, it work amazingly at adding elasticity back to the stretched areas I bought mine from Superdrug for £8.99 which is a little pricey for the 60ml bottle. Its smells beautiful but it does leave your hand oily for like an hour after, except for that is an amazing product that actually makes a difference. As I've already done a review on the Body Shop Tea Tree face mask I'm just going to leave this brief, I use it one day a week as it gives my skin a little refresh and gets rid of all the nastiness that's been piling on my face all week. I got mine from bodyshop for £10.

So that it is my day to day routine, I hope this helped you guys if your struggling for a product to buy. Let me know if you've got any recommendations or even if you've got any products you swear by.

My favourite CD's (So far!)

My CD collection is kinda small at the moment as I tend to just use Spotify or YouTube, however I will never lose that feeling of buying a Non virtual copy and being able to actually hold the CD. Also you can show off you collection when there all just downloads on your Ipod. My music taste is a but random I like a bit of everything and I'm glad I do because that means I get to experience lots of different Artists and songs. Much like everyone else, I like to repeatedly play a song or CD till the point that I no longer like that certain thing for a while, I wish I didn't but when you love a piece of music so much you cant help listening to it over and over again. Anyways I just wanted to share the music I love with you guys and maybe there is something you will love or do already!

'THE 1975' by THE 1975
MY love for this band is unconditional, there music is so different to anybody else for me. Matt Healey's voice is absolutely amazing (so is his face), The whole band is super Tumblr looking and pretty fineee. They've only brought out one album and a couple of EPs, I really would really love a vinyl copy of their self titled album when I get a record player for Christmas. Their album has 16 songs on which is long, some of those tracks have no lyrics or very little but saying that some of those tracks are my favourite.
Favourite song; Menswear

'1989' by Taylor Swift
I'm guessing most people have heard of Taylor, shes been gracing us with her voice since the early 2000's, Unfortunately people have forgotten about some of her best songs (in my opinion). I won't talk about past albums, I fell in love immediately with this album it was the perfect mix of chill out music and then scream out at the top of your lungs. The lyrics are amazing, (a RANT is about to go down so prepare) Okay I can't stand when people complain about Taylor Swift only singing about break ups or relationships... because so does pretty much everyone else, if you've heard Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox album then all those songs are about girls and betrayal. Even if she does sing lots of songs about breakups shes rich and successful so why would she stop? okay rant over, its an amazing CD go and buy it... like now.
Favourite song; I know places

'Save rock and roll' and 'American Beauty/American Psycho' by Fall out boy
Okay this band is my number one, they are my life ahh. I've actually got tickets to go see them in October with my best friend and I'm so freaking excited, we are however worried we might get punched as were in the standing area. This is their second album I've bought however they've released six albums all together. This is such a brilliantly put together album its got slowish songs and crazy awesome songs you could jump about your house to, I love these guys so.damn.much.
Favourite song; Jet pack blues

Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack
I know this isn't like the others but I love this CD too much to not talk at least a little bit about it. First of all, you have to watch the movie first because its amazing and you'll enjoy the CD more after you've watched it. This is full of all the songs (if your my age) you grew up hearing your mum or dad singing to and if your like my family these songs stick and its like the lyrics are forever imprinted on your brain. So when this came out and I loved pretty much every song therefor I had to buy it, I had to. I get no complaints if i play this in the car, actually it normally results in the whole family singing along, oh how your ears would bleed. So I love both the CD and the movie, so will you.
Favourite song; Moonage Daydream by David Bowie
(I mean come on the first line is "I'm an alligator" Awesome.)

So there you have my favourite Cd's at the moment, I have no doubt ill be writing another one of these after Christmas but instead Cd's it will hopefully be vinyls...
Thanks for reading as always guys and please comment if your have any CD recommendations!

My time in the Lake District.

A couple of weeks ago I visited the Lake District with my dad and brother. I would first like to say how beautiful this place is, we stayed in Boness down the road from Windermere. With it being in England the weather wasn't very consistent however we did have a couple of hours of really warm sunny weather.

We went to lots of pubs which were still really pretty and nice to sit in, also nice to see my brother get drunk twice. He's hilarious, on our way back to the hotel he decides to sprint and hide to scare me. Then from a bush he's hiding in, shouts "I found a frog!" bless him (he's 19 by the way). Anyway the pubs were really chilled out places you could just sit and enjoy, until Saturday night when all the locals came out for drink and in the pub pictured above. There was singing (my brother joined in, I wasn't happy) laughing and a lot of playing pool.

First of all i'd like to apologize for the awful photo i was rushing to eat this mound of spaghetti, when i say mound i mean MOUND there was so much i left like half of it! Probably because i eat my garlic bread first due to the fact that garlic bread is the best thing to grace this planet. Anyway to the point of the picture, there is so many beautiful unique restaurants to pick from and that was just in the little village we stayed in.

I would highly recommend you visit the lakes if your enjoy nice peaceful walks and beautiful scenery throughout the day and great loud night life. There something for everyone and i will definitely be returning when i'm older.  Hope you enjoyed this post wasn't very serious but just something nice to read i guess.

My Benefit Counter Experience!

First of all i'd like to apologise for the photo 1) Because its a product photo and this isn't a product review (ill be doing one later) and 2) I'm not sure the quality is too good as it was when i took it but then looked pants on my laptop. Anyway onto my experience at The Benefit counter which i visited at the White Rose center which is in Leeds. The counter is in a Debanhams store with the likes of Mac and Urban Decay. However i always find myself drawn to the Benefit counter, lighting up with bright colours and unique packaging on every product. My mum doesn't normally come with me as she's never really been into make up but has recently started enjoying wearing it and expressing herself through makeup. This makes me so happy as i can see her get excited about the same things i do and we can ooh and ahh about the various colours of the Mac counter or the beautiful Urban Decay eye shadow palettes. I also now get to teach her how to apply make up and get the best out of the products she buys, its awesome really.

So when we got to the counter my mum immediately starts talking to one of the staff, my mum could make friends anywhere. After i see them taking i walk over and Clair (my mum) points at me and tells the lady that were looking for me really. This is until i show my mum the There Real Eye Liner and she instantly loves it and asks the lady how it works. The staff member named Judy is happy to help and asks my mum to sit on a stool so she can give her a tutorial, this in its self is was really kind of her. Judy then went onto testing all sorts of products on both me and my mum until it really was just a free makeover! We walked out looking 10 times better than we did before, We had such a laugh that we were invited back next month for the same thing. Poor Judy was even lovely when challenged with the stress of dealing with my grandparents who haven't a clue on make up. In the end we walked out of there with two products, my mum got the eyeliner and i got the Hoola bronzer which I'm in love with.

Overall we had an amazing time and the rest of the day was just as brilliant but as for the Benefit counter i 100% you visit the one in White Rose if you live near and ask for Judy because she truly was a lovely person. Saying that all the staff seemed lovely and eager to help out. Special thanks to Judy though!

Review; Real Techniques Eye set and Miracle complexion sponge

I realise i write a LOT of reviews but i do really enjoy them, however guys i do have some different posts lined up for you which will be different and interesting. Anyway on to the review!

Ill start with sponge, I AM IN LOVE! This sponge is an absolute god send, its blends perfectly with foundation whether its liquid, powder or cream. I find when you make the sponge damp it helps with my dry patches, using it damp also stops it from soaking up lots of product. The sponge is strategically shaped, the flat top to blend around the nose and eyes, the sides for blending in large areas and the pointy end is to apply product on to one specific are like a spot or blemish. I apply my liquid foundation  and then my powder to set with the sponge. I use this instead of my Core Collection brushes (i reviewed them here) i still use my contour brush regularly for contour obviously, you can however use the sponge for contouring and blush but i just prefer a brush.  So overall this is one of my best buys ever in the history of best buys (weird i know).

Now onto the brushes, the Fine liner brush I've used once when I tried to apply a thin line with some gel eyeshadow and it's probably the eyeshadow but it didn't go very well. However it's a good density and shape, so I think if I used it with actual eyeliner I'd get a better result. The Accent brush is amazing for you inner corners and under you lower water line. It's got a sharp straight edge but is still soft and easy to use. The Base shadow brush is great for applying eye shadow to the outer corner of you eye and in the crease. I don't think your supposed to use it for that but that is what works best for me. Then there's the Deluxe crease brush which is dense with a dome shape, I blend my eye shadow I with this and use it to cover the lid with a base shade. I think it also would work brilliantly for buffing concealer. The last brush is the Brow brush which I haven't often, this is for filling your brows, it has an angled shape but is still soft. So overall there's is some lovely brushes in this set but I think for the money it's pretty ridiculous as this little set cost just as much as the core collection which had massive brushes in it.

Brushes: 3/5

Positive Thinking

This is going to be a more serious and deep post guys, I know. So buckle up and get comfy because were gonna get personal-ish. I feel like there's so many people out there who go through their days miserable or just sad. The kinda sad where you don't have a particular reason for being upset but you are, I get this feeling a lot. It's okay to feel like this but you can get rid of it easy!
Option 1) you can go meet your friends see if you can go on an adventure into the woods or just sit and watch a movie together. If their the reason your feeling a bit down then maybe just chill with you family, your family are the best support system as they always have your best interests at heart.

Option 2) if being alone is your thing, get out of your room and walk or run even skip if it helps. I find being alone helps sometimes, you can even be tumblr as hell and walk through the woods (only of safe) and listen to some music and just be alone with your thoughts.

Option 3) this isn't as much as an option it's more of a solution. TALK! Just talk to someone and get there thoughts on the matter, just make sure your open to there opinions. My brother always helps me get my mind back to where it should be as he gives it to me straight no tip toeing around because he's scared my feelings will get hurt. Someone like that is better to confide in because they aren't bias on the situation so they can give you a clear solution to your problem. Even if your just fed up, talking to someone will lift the weight off your shoulders and make you feel at least slightly better.

That's the upset feelings out of the way now comes the positivity, thinking positive will make your life easier and well, happier. This can be from being more confident to just thinking positive about situations. This can be hard to practise but with a lot of effort and motivation you can achieve it. Stop thinking about what other people think of you, I know you hear this repeatedly but just be yourself and if someone doesn't like that then there the wrong person for you to be friends with.

I'm not going drag this on anymore but as Bobby Mcferrin famously sang
"Don't worry, be happy."

Author Review; Rainbow Rowell

I know this is my second Author Review in a day! ( John Green review ) But i loved writing the first one soooo much, so therefore i will not deny myself the pleasure to write another! I bought these books knowing nothing about them or who the author was, they were total impulse buys. However these are some of my favorite books, so much so i cannot decide which one i like better! Rainbow's characters are sometimes relatable, an example being Cath in Fangirl, shes a classic girl who obsesses over things, is strong and independent and knows what she wants. I see myself in Cath. In Eleanor & Park however you have two totally different characters who meet and build a beautiful relationship, this leads me onto another think i love about Rainbows writing. The romantic scenes, there wrote so wonderfully and descriptive, it makes you feel like you there supporting Eleanor with her first boyfriend or telling Cath to forgive Levi. I grew very fond of the characters throughout these books and if you choose to read them you'll understand why. I know i did the quotes just for the John Green review however I'm going to loosen the reins a little and share a quote from each book that i love, your welcome guys.

1)“Nothing was dirty. With Park.
Nothing could be shameful.
Because Park was the sun, and that was the only way Eleanor could think to explain it.” -
Eleanor & Park

2)“I miss you."
"That's stupid," she said. "I saw you this morning."
"It's not the time," Levi said, and she could hear that he was smiling." It's the distance.”
- Fangirl

So as you can tell by the quotes these books will get you emotional and wanting love like theirs, ahh if only it wasn't fictional. I highly recommend both books and also Rainbow Rowell has another popular book named Landline that I'm yet to buy, so check that out too!

Rainbow Rowell; 5/5

Author Review; John Green

Lets face it, i don't think there's a book lover in the world that hasn't heard of John Green, maybe if ancient history is your thing. I've only chosen to talk about the books Mr Green has wrote himself even thought i love Let It Snow and Will Grayson, Will Grayson as well, i just thought there was enough to talk about without adding extras in too!

So i'd like to begin by talking about John Green as an author as that's the whole point really. I think John is known mostly for the poetic quotes in his many books from the tear jerking words of Augustus Waters to the inspiring descriptions from Margo Roth Spiegelman. Johns books show the spectrum of bright and colourful characters that are put in trying times and are forced to make life changing decisions. In the spirit of John Green's poeticness i complied a list of five favorite quotes some from myself others from friends, here we go.

1) "A Harmatia?" he asked, the cigarette still in his mouth, It tightened his jaw. He had a hell of a jawline, unfortunately.
"A fatal flaw" i explained turning away from him..." - The Fault In Our Stars

2)" I'm not saying that everything is survivable. Just that everything but the last thing is." -
Paper Towns

3) “It's not because I want to make out with her."
"Hold on." He grabbed a pencil and scrawled excitedly at the paper as if he'd just made a mathematical breakthrough and then looked back up at me. "I just did some calculations, and I've been able to determine that you're full of shit” - Looking for Alaska

4) "“Well, while you were in the bathroom, I sat down at this picnic table here in Bumblefug, Kentucky, and noticed that someone had carved that GOD HATES FAG, which, aside from being a grammatical nightmare, is absolutely ridiculous. So I'm changing it to 'God Hates Baguettes.' It's tough to disagree with that. Everybody hates baguettes.” - Abundance of Katherines

5)“I didn’t need you, you idiot. I picked you. And then you picked me back.” - Paper Towns

6) "Poetry is just so emo." he said. "Oh, the pain. The pain. It always rains. In my soul.” -
Paper Towns

Okay so maybe six but the last one made me laugh so i had to put it on the list. By the way the quotes aren't ordered in how much i like them there just random, because i love them all. The quotes might help you decide which book want to buy and read but if i'm honest John Greens books speak for themselves. Every single one of them is a literary masterpiece which is why John has become an international best seller, has had some of his books made into films and is loved by many. In conclusion i highly recommend you buy each one of his books as there a amazing in their own different and unique ways.

John Green; 6/5

Review; Real Techniques Core Collection and Expert Face Brush

I bought these lovelies a few months ago but before i reviewed them i wanted to have had more experience using them and getting a feel for the brushes. So ill get straight to it!

I'll start with the Real Techniques Core Collection this includes the buffing brush, contour brush, foundation brush and the detail brush (i think its called that the writings rubbed off mine). The buffing brush is brilliant you can use it for liquid, cream and powder foundations, i use mine to add powder after already applying my foundation with a different brush. Saying this i have recently found myself using the buffing brush to blend my foundation in as i think it gives a better result. The contour brush is a perfect size for getting under your cheekbones, I've seen on videos other people using it with powder to set their under eye concealer, it works brilliantly for that too. The foundation brush doesn't do a great job of actually applying foundation to the whole face as its way too small and leaves streak marks on the face. i do however use it to apply foundation to my eyes as its shape is just right to get around your eyelids and under eyes with ease. Lastly The detail brush which I haven't used this that much as don't wear lipstick a lot and when I do I'm too lazy to line my lips with a small brush first. However I was applying some berry lipstick the other day and found if I line my lips using the brush it gives them more definition and makes them look bigger. Therefore it's a must have if your into statement lips, you could also use it on your eyes or even to apply concealer to spots/blemishes. So that's pretty much it for the core collection.

Onto The expert face brush, firstly I'd like to say that i have a love/hate relationship (mostly hate) with this brush. I love that it can cover large areas. That's it, that's all i love about this product. Okay so I'm going to tell you the problems.
1) It leaves streak marks on my face due to its oval shape and density
2) Its a giant pain to clean as all the foundation goes deep into the brush as its so dense.
3) Even if you use it once it soaks up the foundation, I think this may be the reason i have a problem with the coverage of my foundation.
I don't want you all to thing this brush is the devil as its not but for my face its not good, so if you feel like trying it for yourself that's cool, it might just be my skin and foundation that doesn't agree with the brush and its properties.

So in conclusion go out and buy the core collection immediately, but hold off on the expert face brush as in my opinion its not worth the money.

Core Collection; 4/5
The Expert Face Brush; 1/5

Book Review; All The Bright Places

So i bought this book a couple of weeks ago before my work experience. I bought it on the Sunday and finished on the Wednesday which probably isn't impressive but i was working with children all week. This meant being extremely tired and wanting to just watch TV as soon as my ass hit the couch, that or finally getting to check my social network sites. I'm such a cliche teenager sometimes. Anyway onto the book!

First of all i would like to say i thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. Before i start i would like to say i'm not going to ruin the ending for you guys due to my emotional reaction to the book and me not wanting to ruin it for you. So the book starts with two people on top of a school bell tower wanting to take their own lives, you may be thinking "this sounds kinda sad and depressing" oh on the contrary my friend. I laughed at this book so much as one of the main characters 'Finch' is witty and hilarious even at the worst times, this gives the book such a uplifting effect. On the other hand the book deals with the seriousness of mental health and how it can effect not only the person suffering but those around them too. It shows that as much as you think you might know someone and everything about them you can be so clueless to what is truly happening in there head.

This book has tragedy, romance and death, "So does most john green books" i hear you say? well what makes this book shine bright on the book store shelf other than its beautifully designed cover is the diversity of the characters, the fact that its so unpredictable and just keeps you reading because your forever needing to know if they get together, find him and have a happy ending. I cannot go into much detail without ruining the story for you guys and i wouldn't want to do that so i would SO recommend you go buy this book i got my copy for £7.99. I've even started highlighting all my favorite lines, there's a considerate amount of highlighting as you can imagine.

I am proud to say I rate this book 5/5
Thanks for reading!

The Gymnasium Talk: July

Wow I've missed a month out, shame on me. It's probably due to the fact I haven't been to the gym a lot the past two months! I've been so busy with school exams and work experience that I think I've only been like 4 times. It's bad I know. To make matters worse I've been eating calorific foods non stop. Ben and Jerrys, pizza and Mc Donald's. All not helping my situation, which funnily enough I've been noticing. I've been feeling sluggish, tired and moody; which is never a good combination. The only upside is that the lack of physical activity has made time for reading (I'll be writing a review on the book I finished this week, soon)

I really need to get back into it, summer is here and I'm not ready at all. I get these blasts of motivation when i want to go eat healthy and exercise till i cant go on, but unfortunately these blasts last about half an hour then I'm back to craving chocolate and Ice cream.

I think however with it being warm now I'll be out and walking more which will keep me active so I think just eating healthier will keep me from gaining lots of weight.

Anyway hope you guys are enjoying the summer and have a good holidays!

DIY: Tied string t-shirt

Seen as summer is pretty much here  i thought id give you a Spring/Summer DIY.
Here Goes;

1) Pick an old t-shirt or a new one just one that you dont mind cutting up.

2) On a flat surface closely cut around the sleeves on the inner part of the 'sleeve hole'

3) Then do the same on the inner side of the neck

4) Pull all three holes tight outwards and this should tighten the threads making it look less messy

5) Go to the bottom of the t-shirt and measure how long you want the tassels to be, taking into account that the longer the tassels the shorter the top is going to be in you.

6) Then start cutting up the shirt to the desired length and keep going cutting strips of the shirt upwards from the bottom hem. Make sure all strips are the same/similar sizes.

7) Then pull the strings tight from the bottom and this will make them in to a more cylinder shape. Then tie a knot in each tassel.

8) Finish by cutting off the ends of each tassels as there will be the bottom hem of the t-shirt still attached.

Tip: if you want the tassels short you can cut them down when your cutting the bottom end of the t-shirt into strips

Okay, guys I hope you actually found these instructions useful I know a video or some pictures would of probably been easier to understand but I'm not that advanced yet. So I do hope there clear enough for you to get the results you want. Good luck.

How to: Clean your Make-Up brushes!

I'd like to start off this post by saying this is how I do it and it's probably wrong or totally different from your ways but if your interested keep reading!

1) I start of by rinsing the brush under the tap at a luke warm temperature to remove any access makeup.

2) Then in a bowl I add luke warm water and dog shampoo ( I know this seems weird but it's gentle, smells nice and is hypo allergenic(you can also use baby shampoo)) I mix this together until soapy and combined.

3) Gently swirl the brush in the soapy water, brushing it against the sides so the water gets in deep. This makes sure the make up residue is all gone. You can then start to add more force as some brushes are very dense making it harder to clean gently.

4) Run the brush under the tap at the same temperature as before so all the soap is washed away. Depending on how dense and big the brush is, you can repeat this until it's all clean.

5) squeeze the excess water out of the brushes and leave to dry on a cloth or flannel they shouldn't take long but I'd leave them overnight to make sure.

Hope this helps guys!

Body shop: Tea Tree Face Mask

Lately my skin has been really oily and spotty or dry and itchy so I needed something that would soothe, hydrate and balance my skin. I actually don't really love the smell of tea tree as I found out when using it as an antiseptic for my ear piercings but when you apply this product the smell becomes really subtle. It gives the mask a really fresh smell. The price was £10 which is more than I would normally pay for a face mask however I could defiantly tell the difference after using it.

The last face mask I bought was Lush's Oatfix which left my skin feeling oily and greasy which is probably my fault as I told the employee that my skin gets really dry however it's now not that bad. That was £6 down the drain...

The body shop mask however felt amazing when you applied it, it instantly cools your face. When you have the mask on your can really feel it working which is always a good thing for me. The mask dries on your face, which always results your face feeling like it's set and limits your smiling power. Dang not the smiling.

So I use this every Sunday and it just helps quickly sort my skin out once a week and then the tub doesn't run out anytime soon.

It's a 4/5 as I haven't seen massive improvements but it has reduced my blemishes and redness.
